Hounslow Council Thriving Communities Fund Deadline Round 1

Hounslow Council has a new way for residents and community and voluntary organisations to apply for funding to improve their communities.

The new Thriving Communities Fund brings together a number of funding streams which have supported community and voluntary sector services or projects – providing a new, single point of application for all council community funding.

Applications can be made under three funding streams:

  • Small Grants up to £1,250
  • Medium Grants between £1,251 & £15,000
  • Large Grants between £15,001 & £50,000

The Fund is open for applications and the deadline for applications is 12 noon on 21 February 2020.

Applications for the Summer Give 2020 will open on Monday 20th January at midday.

The Childhood Trust supports charities in London working with children and young people from low income backgrounds. Working in partnership with The Big Give, The Childhood Trust builds charities’ capacity to run fundraising campaigns and leverages match-funding for the money raised.

 

The Summer Give campaign raises funds for projects taking place during any school holidays (not just the summer!) between Summer 2020 – May half term 2021 (inclusive). Applications will be open 20th January – 21st February 2020.

 

Applicant charities must:

  • be registered with the Charity Commission
  • have one year of filed annual accounts
  • have over £25,000 income (as per your last accounts)
  • not be applying for funding for capital costs or religious activities

A reminder of what itÂ’s all about

The Childhood Trust supports charities to run fundraising campaigns and leverages match-funding for the funds raised. There are two funding campaigns through the year: the Christmas Challenge and the Summer Give.

While in previous years the Summer Give has funded projects taking place during the summer holidays only, in 2020 we’ll be looking for projects taking place during any or all school holidays – summer, Christmas, Easter or half terms!

Applicants must:

  • be a registered charity with the Charity Commission
  • have one year of filed annual accounts
  • have over £25,000 income (as showing in your last annual accounts)
  • have strong financial processes and be legally compliant
  • have a robust governance structure
  • have solid safeguarding processes

Projects must:

  • be taking place during any school holidays between Summer 2020 – May half term 2021 (inclusive)
  • have a clear focus on children and young people (CYP) from low-income families in London
  • have a budget of between £4000 and £100,000
  • be completed within 12 months of the campaign
  • not include any religious activities
  • not request the funding of capital costs

Greggs Local Community Projects Fund 

Greggs not only make wonderful baked goods, but they also have a Local Community Projects Fund for groups with a turnover of less than £300,000.
Grants up to £2,000 are available for projects which improve resilience in the community and help people who are living in disadvantage. Preference is giving to groups working in areas where a Greggs bakery is situated.
Round 1 is now open and closes on the 23rd of February 2020. The application form and guidelines can be found here.

Mayor of London's Shared Endeavour Fund

2020 will see the launch of a new fund from the Mayor of London which supports civil society groups who work to create positive alternatives to extremist ideologies or those who encourage others to stand up to hate, intolerance and racism.
Prior to the official launch, they will be holding an event at the Google Academy on Tuesday 14th January where you can meet officials and learn more about the fund.  You can register your interest on Eventbrite here.

Stronger Communities Fund

Stronger Communities Fund is a one-year rolling programme so you can apply at any time before 15 May 2020 for funding between £2,000 and £5,000. The GLA is looking to fund projects that bring Londoners together from different backgrounds or helps socially isolated Londoners feel better connected.

New grants from Freshwater Foundation

The Freshwater Foundation is a small grant-making charity based in West London and their new grant round is now open for applications with a deadline of 31 January 2020.

They support small to medium-sized voluntary and community organisations in Ealing and Hounslow with grants for small-scale projects, infrastructure spending and any other charitable work.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Funding Applications Now Open

Core funding grants are now available for small and local charities through a new simplified, more flexible and transparent approach.
They have refined and improved their approach to funding to better help you be stronger and more effective.
This new approach involves:
A continuously open application process, rather than in rounds, so that charities can apply for support whenever they are ready.
Clearer turnaround times for when a decision on funding will be made from the initial application.
Grants worth up to £45,000 and £100,000 available over three years that can be used entirely for core costs, with charities able to flex how much they spend each year.
An eligibility checker which takes less than five minutes to complete, which will tell you whether your charity is currently able to apply for support and, if so, for how much.
Support from the Foundation’s regional managers and access to the Foundation’s ‘Enhance’ organisational development programme, helping charities to become more resilient and sustainable.

Free Christmas Crackers from Heathrow

Did you know that sadly at this time of year HeathrowÂ’s wonderful security officers have to confiscate approx. 15,000 Christmas Crackers because they are not allowed on the airplanes.

They would very much like if possible to donate them to local charities, schools etc, so that they brighten someoneÂ’s holiday period.
