Microsoft Excel Basics is an effective workshop giving plenty of hands-on experience. It will enable you to have the confidence and skills to create, format and print an Excel workbook.

Audience: This session will be of benefit to anyone who wants to learn the basics of Microsoft Excel.

Basic Formulas is an effective workshop giving plenty of hands-on experience. It will enable you to have the confidence and skills to do basic calculations in Excel, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and using the AutoSum button to create totals, averages, counts, maximums and minimums.

Audience: This session will be of benefit to anyone who wants to learn how to do simple calculations using Microsoft Excel.

Objectives:

  • Add, subtract, multiply, divide numbers in an Excel workbook
  • Use the Excel AutoSum feature to total, average or count a range of numbers
  • Use the Excel AutoSum feature to find the maximum or minimum of a range of numbers

Impact:

  • Confidence to do basic calculations in Excel
  • Ability to rely on Excel rather than a calculator when faced with many calculations

Creating and Formatting Simple Documents:

Would you like to be able to create Word documents rather than handwriting all the time?

Would you like to be able to edit documents and format them so they look professional?

Creating and Formatting Simple Documents is an effective workshop giving plenty of hands-on practice. It will enable you to have the confidence and skills to create, edit and format Microsoft Word documents.

Audience: Those who have never had formal training in Microsoft Word and those who learnt some time ago but are not comfortable with the package.

Objectives:

  • To create simple Word documents
  • To format simple Word documents
  • To spellcheck a document
  • To create bulleted and numbered lists
  • To select text
  • To move and copy text
  • To print preview and print

For those who have never had the opportunity to have professional training in using Microsoft Word or those who learnt a long time ago, being asked to create or edit documents can be a daunting experience. This workshop will give the confidence to be able to do so.

Impact:

  • Confidence to create Word documents
  • Creation of professional looking reports, letters and business plans with ease

Working with Word Tables is an effective workshop giving plenty of hands-on experience. It will enable you to have the confidence and skills to create, edit and format Word tables.

Audience: Those who have never had formal training in Microsoft Word and those who learnt some time ago but are not comfortable with the package. This session will be of benefit to anyone who wants to be able to layout text in appropriate ways. Sometimes although people have used tables for some time, they are not aware of techniques such as getting two or more columns to be of equal width. Anyone who uses tables but feels they are not using them to their full potential should also attend.

Objectives:

  • To create Word tables

  • Insert and delete rows and columns
  • Adjust column widths, row heights
  • Merge cells

Join One Hounslow Connect

 

 

Hounslow Council’s new directory

Later this month Hounslow Council will be launching our new online information and support hub – and we want your organisation to be part of it!

Hounslow Connect is Hounslow Council’s new online directory of services and we are inviting all the borough’s charities, voluntary and community groups to register onto it.

Being on Hounslow Connect is free of charge and will give you a place on the most important information website in the borough. You will have your own custom-designed page on the platform, which you can edit and change whenever you want.

Everyone knows how important it is to have up to date information about your organisation available online – particularly as we all plan our recovery from Covid and try to get back to delivering services regularly again.

To register on Hounslow Connect please email OneHounslowConnect@hounslow.gov.uk and we will guide you through the sign up process.

In addition there are regular on-line drop-in sessions every Tuesday morning from 11.00am-12 noon where you can learn about Hounslow Connect and how it can benefit you.

HCN Annual Conference a Huge Success

HCN Annual Conference a Huge Success

The Hounslow Community Network Annual Conference was held on Wednesday 27th November at Heston Communty Centre. The event was hugely successful with 66 VCS reps from 48 organisations and stalls for Groundwork, Hounslow Model City, ilays,Polish Association Klan, Speak Out in Hounslow, Community Partnerships Unit and SFIDA Women’s Group in West London.
Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet member for Communities and workforces presented on key priorities for the Council and how VCS groups can assist with these. She highlighted how the council was simplifying its funding by bringing different funding streams together, she stressed the importance of the role of civil society and volunteering, the role of the VCSE sector in delivering the councils corporate plan, how the council was working hard to make Hounslow a dementia friendly borough and the important issues faced by young people in the borough particularly loneliness and knife crime.

There were also presentations from Irfan Arif from Ealing CVS about the EU Settled Status project and Gopi Chandratheva about NHS work on Childhood Obesity.

HOUNSLOW COMMUNITY NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019

A celebration of everything achieved by Hounslow Community Network over the last 7 years.

The Hounslow Community Network Annual Conference will be held on Wednesday 27th November, 10:00-13:00 at Heston Communty Centre.

Lunch and informal networking will take place 12.00-13.00

Please note there is very limited parking at the venue but there are parking spaces in the surrounding streets.

Hounslow Local Youth Network Event

There will be a Hounslow Local Youth Network Event on 21st March 10:30-12:30pm at St Johns Centre, 80 St John’s Rd, Isleworth.
The event will be an opportunity to network with VCS groups working with young people in the borough. There will also be stalls from a variety of organisations including Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Hounslow West Model City, the Challenge, Jack Petchey Foundation and Hounslow Council Community Partnerships Unit.  
The Hounslow Youth Local Network aims to provide support to youth organisations and projects through:

  • Capacity and skill building, fundraising advice, group development, networking and one-on-one sessions.
  • Be a vehicle to attract substantial external funding to expand the long term sustainability of the youth sector in Hounslow.

Hounslow Community Network

Hounslow Community Network is the representative body for the voluntary sector in Hounslow and aims to give groups a greater voice in local decision making. It now has over 360 member organisations.

Hounslow Voluntary Sector Support Service (HVSSS)

HVSSS offers support to community and voluntary sector groups in Hounslow. Support services include advice on group development, funding advice, policies and training.

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

Working in partnership with Brentford FC, the Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education, employability, sports participation, health and community engagement.

Hounslow West Model City

Model city is a ‘place-based approach’ bringing together different organisations from across Hounslow West to form coalitions who will use the power of sport to drive change in their communities. It is a partnership between Laureus, Nike and the Mayor of London.

The Challenge

The Challenge runs programmes for young people to gain confidence and skills in order to create a more integrated society.

Jack Petchey Foundation

The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up by Sir Jack Petchey to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex to do their best and reach their full potential.

Hounslow Council Community Partnerships Unit

The Community Partnerships Unit (CPU) is the team in Hounslow Council that supports the borough’s Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.

HCN VCS Election Manifesto

At the most recent HCN general meeting it was agreed to send an HCN VCS Election Manifesto to the Leaders of the two Parties on the Council and to Theo Dennison as lead Cabinet Member. It has also been copied to local MP’s, the Council Chief Executive and to Hounslow Council Community Partnerships Unit.
