Hybrid working: how to make the most of Microsoft 365-CHARITY DIGITAL

We explore the importance of Microsoft 365 in the age of hybrid working and how it can help charities work more efficiently

Operating in the Cloud, Microsoft 365 offers charities much more flexibility. The Cloud stores your data remotely and securely, giving employees 24/7 access to their documents, and itÂ’s very cost-effective.

With the Cloud, there is no having to download documents and reupload them Â– you and your team can edit them as you go, with complete visibility of any changes and with the knowledge that youÂ’re all up to speed, increasing productivity.

ItÂ’s also more energy efficient than alternatives Â– though you canÂ calculate its environmental footprint here.

The free versions of Microsoft 365 can provide charities with the essentials they need, but eligible organisations can also get access to a discounted version of the premium subscription software through theÂ Charity Digital Exchange.

With the move to working from home, Microsoft Teams has now reached this level of ubiquity. Even before the pandemic, we highlighted howÂ cloud-based solutions allowed for increased communication and collaboration. Now, Teams has become a fixture of many charitiesÂ’ daily operations – allowing staff to keep in touch and work together via instant messaging chat, video conferencing capabilities and quick-and-easy file sharing.

These products have allowedÂ many charitiesÂ to make a smooth transition to a remote working model, and continue to offer their vital services amidst a climate of challenges and disruptions.

Most of us probably take access to these solutions as a given. But charity digital leaders will need to make decisions when it comes to sourcing software and licenses for employees. There are a number of Microsoft products available at a discounted rate through the Charity Digital Product Platform and Exchange Programme. These can allow organisations (particularly smaller charities with limited budgets) to gain access to important software at affordable rates.

The Right to Thrive Innovation Fund: Deadline : 22ndÂ November, 2021Â

The Right to Thrive Innovation Fund is a small-grants scheme totaling Â£100,000. It is designed to fund and support innovative community and grassroots projects across London which help support the mental health and wellbeing of those who are experiencing higher levels of unfair treatment and discrimination.

The Right to Thrive Innovation Fund will award grants of up to Â£20,000 and a broad range of projects will be considered. The fund is particularly designed to support those who typically find it difficult to access other forms of grant funding.

The fund also aims to support the London Recovery BoardÂ’sÂ Mental Health and Wellbeing Recovery MissionÂ by empowering local community ambassadors and ensuring that in the longer-term, those groups and communities most impacted by the pandemic can live healthier, happier lives and improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Health & Wellbeing Volunteers ROLE- West London NHS Trust-Closing date 15 Nov 21.

Could you support the health and wellbeing of our incredible NHS people when it really matters?

Often, working in our busy mental health, community and social care services means the pressure is on, including during this winter, leading to increased anxiety for our staff. They may become too busy to make time for themselves and consequently unaware of the valuable support we have to offer for their own health and wellbeing. Sadly, this means some people may experience reduced moral, increased sickness and absence and impact
on their decision to remain part of the Trust team with a knock on effect on the quality of our patient care.

As a Health and Wellbeing volunteer you will be part of an inspired, connected and mobilised network of people offering practical support to our staff. This includes support running of wellbeing hub/stations and providing general support to our people, actively promoting our Trust-wide Health and Wellbeing resources and support available and guiding them to these resources.

BEAM -Empower someone to leave homelessness for good

Are you working with an Ealing resident who is homeless or at risk? Beam can support them into a new job and private rented property!

Residents can use BeamÂ’s platform to raise funds towards employment and housing, including: training, technology (e.g. laptops and smartphones), childcare, travel to work, work attire, rental deposits, first month’s rent, moving vans and homeware essentials.

BeamÂ’s caseworkers provide 1-1 support with CVs, applications, interview skills and tenancy training. Through Beam, residents also get priority access to local jobs with 90+ employer partners and properties in their price range.

Ealing resident Gordon shared with his supporters:

“Becoming homeless can be very stressful and energy-draining. You lose all sense of stability in your life. This is not ideal in any time period but especially during a pandemic. The emotional stress starts to become energy draining. All of these factors made it hard for me to secure enough work to financially propel myself into a secure housing situation.”

Beam raised Â£2,821 to pay for his rental deposit, first month’s rent, homeware essentials, moving van, internet subscription laptop, work attire and travel to work. Following this, he started a role in a warehouse and moved into his own private rented home!
