Job Description – Director Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow

Hours of work: Part-time 3 or 4 days per week with the ability to work flexibly
Salary: NJC scale 34 -38 depending on experience FTE £39,738 – 43,729 (including LW) pro-rata
Accountable to:  Chair of Board of Trustees, Home-Start Richmond, Kingston, and Hounslow
Responsible for: 17 members of staff

Summary of the role

Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow (H-S RK&H) seeks a Director with a clear passion for supporting families to provide inspirational leadership, strategic direction and to be the public face of our charity.

In this role, there is considerable scope for the post holder to make a real difference to families by growing our network of stakeholders and significantly raising our profile within the communities we serve.

The Director will ensure that Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow has an effective leadership team in place to deliver the strategic objectives of the charity and to be responsible for the day-to-day management of our service to children and families. He/she will ensure a high public profile and will have the vision and the ability to raise awareness of our service and increase our reach with the children and families that need us. Our most vulnerable children have suffered greatly during the pandemic, and we can provide essential support to these families.

Nottingham Trent University, together with the NCVO and Sheffield Hallam, are currently conducting the largest UK study exploring the impact of Covid-19 on the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector. The latest round to the survey is now open until 22nd March. The more organisations that take part in the study, the more impact this can have for the whole sector.

It is quick, easy and only takes a few minutes to complete. Each round the survey has a set of general questions, with some focussing on a theme (for example, this month we’ll be looking at the ways organisations may interact with local authorities). As a small thank you to everyone who takes part, each month there is the option to enter a draw to win £200, and a £2000 prize draw at the end of the project (see here for more info).

The research team at NTU, the NCVO and Sheffield Hallam are always looking at ways to make this project as valuable as possible. Their reports have been shared with decision makers, and the results of the study recently presented to an All-Party Parliamentary Group and DCMS’ Civil Society Stakeholder Group.
