Vaccinations for front line VCSE workers
If you were eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine this winter or are the main carer for an older or vulnerable person it is important that you now get your COVID-19 vaccination. There are three ways you can now book your first COVID-19 vaccination:
- Follow one of the links below to book in at the vaccination centre closest to you
- Wait for your GP surgery to contact you with an appointment
- Wait to be notified by the NHS National Booking System
If you are:
- A carer of older adults or vulnerable people – in receipt of carerÂ’s allowance or unpaid
- A voluntary sector worker – e.g. working in front line health and social care activities such as foodbanks, homeless etc (volunteers and paid staff)
Appointments are available near you at:
You must book your appointment before you go to a vaccination centre. We are aware of scam messages circulating – please ignore them. The NHS will never ask you for money or your bank details for your vaccination – it is free.

Useful software and Apps
Following the Digital Strategy workshop this morning I thought it would be useful to share some of the ideas discussed. Hootsuite allows you to manage all your social media accounts from one platform. Do be aware that the initial free trial period is only for 30 days.

Desperately Seeking Storage
Hounslow & Twickenham Woodcraft Folk are urgently seeking storage space for their camping equipment as the council garage they rent has become unaffordable. They were awarded a National Lottery grant a few years ago to buy an additional £9000 worth of camping equipment, so they need quite a big space. Something equivalent to a standard garage, or indeed a garage, would be ideal but it must be secure, dry and vermin-proof. Ideally it would be somewhere close to Hounslow/Twickenham though they will consider anything suitable within a reasonable distance. They are currently paying over £25 per week so are looking for somewhere cheaper than that. Offers of storage space/questions can be emailed to info@hounslowwoodcraft.org.uk.

Sign Up for #HeritageDigitalNow – Engaging Digital Audiences
Join us for our next heritage virtual day!
On 1st April, the Heritage Digital consortium will be hosting our next big online event, #HeritageDigitalNow – this time on the topic of Engaging Digital Audiences. Why should you sign up?
Over the course of the last year, the heritage sector has seen a seismic shift in the way that it has been able to engage with its audiences; this has been the case whether your audience is the public, your members, other organisations or even a funder.
In the face of the pandemic and a reduction in funding, capacity and hugely reduced physical audiences, weÂ’ve seen heritage organisations adapt to adopt virtual event delivery, move planned exhibitions into the virtual sphere, take to social media to communicate with their audiences, and much more.
#HeritageDigitalNow intends to look back at the lessons of the past year to see what we have learned, and use examples of best practice to share this learning with every part of our diverse sector.
The full agenda will be coming soon; in the meantime these are the key topics you can expect to hear about on the day:
- How to create engaging online events
- Encouraging your audience to create and share user-generated content
- Using the Exceptions to Copyright framework to support your digital activities
- How to engage diverse audiences online
- Digital audiences and money: how to get the balance right
WeÂ’ve listened to the feedback from our 2-stream October event and were delighted to hear that so many of you wished you could see what was happening in both virtual rooms; this time there will only be 1 stream to ensure nobody misses out. There will be a separate virtual meeting space to have extended Q&A with webinar leaders and network in between sessions. Staff from The Heritage Alliance will also be on hand to talk about our work.
WeÂ’ve also factored in breaks after every session, all sessions will have Closed Captions enabled and every learning session will be recorded for watching back after the event.
This event is open to the whole of the UK heritage sector, including charities, private, independent and voluntary-run organisations, but it will be particularly relevant for small to medium-sized organisations and/or those working with a small, or no, budget.
Heritage Digital, the National Lottery Heritage Fund supported programme run by The Heritage Alliance, Charity Digital, Media Trust and Naomi Korn Associates is creating high-quality free digital skills training resources between July 2020 and July 2021.
The programme is open to the entire UK heritage sector; that means all heritage types across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, whether they are charities, private, independent or volunteer-run. Freelancers in the sector and furloughed staff are welcome to attend. This event, like all of our resources, is completely free.
Questions about the event? Contact Carmen Talbot (Project Manager, Heritage Digital) on HeritageDigital@theheritagealliance.org.uk
