Hounslow’s ‘Better Homes, Better Health’ scheme

The ‘Better Homes, Better Health’ scheme is Hounslow Council’s one-stop referral scheme, which has been designed to tackle fuel poverty and winter ill health in a holistic way.
Voluntary and statutory sector service providers can refer clients to the service. Clients are then assessed for a package of support through Groundwork LondonÂ’s Green Doctor home visit. The visits include help to access larger measures such as heating and insulation grants, fuel debt advice, income maximisation, fire safety checks, health and wellbeing services and help with home repairs. During the home visit the Green Doctors also install small, practical energy-saving measures such as draught proofing, and offer 1-2-1 energy-saving advice.

Patient & Public Voice (PPV) Role Advertisement (Voluntary Role)

NHS England are seeking to recruit a patient, carer or member of the public to provide a Patient and Public Voice (PPV) at the hepatitis C clinical leads meeting. NHS England aims to recruit a group of people, acting in a voluntary capacity, to help support the plans for implementing new models of care for managing Hepatitis C virus (PCV) treatment in London.
The new models of care will be established by clinical operational delivery networks (ODNs). Each of the ODNs has a lead Clinician and every three months NHS England holds a forum where clinicians meet up to discuss issues.

  • Would you like to work with the hepatitis C network to help improve services for people in London?
  • Do you have experience, knowledge or insight into how hepatitis C services work and can you link this to healthcare     needs and experiences of your local community?
  • Could you share your knowledge and insight with a group of LondonÂ’s senior health professionals?
  • Could you question or challenge that group to make sure that patients, carers and community views are considered?

Carers Service Manager, 19.5hrs per week, £32,000pa pro rata (salary £16,640)

Assistant Manager & Young Carer lead, 19.5hrs per week, £23,000pa pro rata (salary £11,995) Requirements: experience working with under 18s, of providing community support and supervising staff, knowledge of Ealing services, understanding of safeguarding, great communication and group facilitation skills, strong ICT competency, knowledge of carer issues.
Carers Advisors, 15 – 20hrs per week, £21,500pa pro rata (salary £8,600)
Requirements: experience of providing information or advice, knowledge of Ealing services, carer issues and welfare benefits system, understanding of safeguarding, good ICT competency, excellent communication skills.
Carers Service Assistant, 22.5hrs per week, £19,000pa pro rata (salary £11,408)
Requirements: experience of providing community support and working in an office, knowledge of Ealing services, strong ICT competency, excellent communication skills.

You can receive grants and support to help you complete your neighbourhood plan. Applications for grants for 2017-18 can be submitted from 1 February 2017 until 1 October 2017. Expenditure through a grant must be completed by 31 December 2017.

Developing Traineeships for Young People who are NEET

The Learning and Work Institute [L&W] is working with the Department for Education [DfE] to develop new approaches to the traineeship programme. We can offer free support to a range of organisations, which includes Local Authority employers, voluntary sector organisations and providers who are interested in developing traineeships for young people who are NEET (not in education, employment or training). 
 
The attached Expression of Interest [EOI] provides background on the traineeship programme and information about the support we can offer. 
 
Organisations who are interested in attending this workshop should complete the attached EOI registration form and return it to Lorna Freakley: lornafreakley@ntlworld.com by 10 February 2017. 
 
Places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis, one per organisation. Additional places may be offered subject to availability.

Project Griffin Event

The London Borough of Hounslow Contingency Planning Unit, along with the Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism Command will be holding a Project Griffin event on Tuesday 7th February 2017 between 10:00 and 12:00 at the Lampton Park Conference Centre (LPCC), Hounslow.
Project Griffin is a police initiative to protect our cities and communities from the threat of terrorism. It brings together and coordinates the resources of the police, emergency services, local authorities, business and private sector security industry.

  • The event will cover a number of topics including: ?

  • Hostile reconnaissance ?
