The Mulberry Centre (TMC) is a cancer information and support centre based on the grounds of the West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, Middlesex. It has been open for 17 years and has provided services to more than 15,000 people. It currently has over 3,200 registered users, and offers information, complementary therapies and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer. It is a registered charity and is funded largely by charitable donations.
TMC is seeking an Executive Director to work in partnership with the Board on strategy development, planning and financial management to ensure that the Centre continues to deliver high quality services to its clients and has the resources to deliver the plan. The Executive Director will create and maintain an effective reporting and communication structure which ensures that the Board, Staff and volunteers are kept up to date with issues and developments across the whole Centre. This role requires leadership and motivation skills, ensuring energy and adaptability be used at all times and keeping integrity at
the core of all the management issues.
The Role
• Develop and deliver the strategic plan in partnership with the Trustees
• Lead and motivate the staff and volunteers, ensuring that everyone is clear about their
roles and responsibilities
• Develop the Centre’s external profile and build relationships with key stakeholders and
funders/potential funders.
• Have overall responsibility for the services and activities provided by the Centre.
The Requirements
• Proven record of achievement in a senior position working with multiple stakeholders
• Established leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead, develop and motivate staff and volunteers and delegate effectively
• Experience of strategic and business planning and implementation
• Financial management skills including budgeting and monitoring
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven record of achievement with fundraising particularly from grant submissions and
statutory sources
