Play Streets in Hounslow
Published on: 27 July 2016
London Borough of Hounslow CPU, Public Health & Transport teams have recently awarded a tender to London Play to deliver the Hounslow Play Streets project in 2016/17, targeting areas of deprivation, where there is a lack of green space and high levels of social isolation. The project is aimed at empowering residents and communities to take ownership of their streets and create places for play for children close to their homes, free from traffic and where they can get to know their neighbours.
Playing in the streets allows children to play close to their homes, gives them open space to play creatively and imaginatively and increases a sense of community by bringing neighbours together. It is a proven, low cost way to improve levels of physical activity in children and build stronger communities.
