HCN Annual Conference a Huge Success

The Hounslow Community Network Annual Conference was held on Wednesday 27th November at Heston Communty Centre. The event was hugely successful with 66 VCS reps from 48 organisations and stalls for Groundwork, Hounslow Model City, ilays,Polish Association Klan, Speak Out in Hounslow, Community Partnerships Unit and SFIDA Women’s Group in West London.
Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet member for Communities and workforces presented on key priorities for the Council and how VCS groups can assist with these. She highlighted how the council was simplifying its funding by bringing different funding streams together, she stressed the importance of the role of civil society and volunteering, the role of the VCSE sector in delivering the councils corporate plan, how the council was working hard to make Hounslow a dementia friendly borough and the important issues faced by young people in the borough particularly loneliness and knife crime.

There were also presentations from Irfan Arif from Ealing CVS about the EU Settled Status project and Gopi Chandratheva about NHS work on Childhood Obesity.
