Do you care about Young people ?
Do you care about Hounslow ?
Do you want to get involved ?
The Hounslow Youth Justice Service is looking for volunteers who could offer a few hours every month to become a member of the Referral Order Community Panel.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the work of Hounslow Youth Justice Service. We are looking for individuals who are interested in helping to reduce youth crime in Hounslow. If you believe you can engage with young people and their parents / carers to help prevent offending and make a positive difference to the Local Community, come and speak to us about becoming a member of our Community Panels.
What is a Community Panel Meeting?
Community Panel meetings take place following a child committing an offence and pleading guilty. The Community panel members consider any needs leading up to or arising from the offence and develop with the child a co-produced contract of actions. These actions support the child to make amends for their offence(s) and understand the consequences of their action/s on their victims and the wider community. The Community Panel monitor the progress of the contract through progress panel meetings.
About you
If can offer some of your free time to working with children and parents to prevent offending, have availability to be a part of a panel once or twice a week usually in the late afternoon or early evening, sometimes in person, sometimes virtually and would be able to undertake some preparation reading prior to the panel meetings. If you have a level-headed approach to children and crime, have good communication skills and a commitment to equalities and confidentiality, we want to hear from you.
What you’ll get
You will be provided with training before you become a Community Panel member, you will be offered ongoing support and training, and peer support. And whilst this is voluntary work, you get expenses to help cover the costs of childcare and travel. You will also get a sense of wellbeing knowing you are contributing to having a positive impact on children and the victims of crime and making Hounslow a safer place to live.
