EHCVS International Walk & Talk group visit Parliament by MP invitation the Labour MP Dr Rupa Huq
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Ukrainian refugees and other residents of Ealing, participants of International Walk&Talk group, visited the Parliament.
During this special tour, Dr Rupa said about how Parliament functions and her role as the Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton.
Participants had an unforgettable and informative tour of the entire Palace of Westminster, which included visits to the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
About International Walk & Talk:
The International Walk&Talk activity is a part of Community Connections EHCVS programm that offers a highly interactive and engaging walking experience, ideal for individuals seeking to practice their English language skills while connecting with people from diverse corners of the globe.
As the initiative progressed, participants collectively establish new objectives. Nowdays their aspirations extended beyond walking to encompass exploration of Ealing’s landmarks and its surrounding regions, England’s National Heritage sites and attractions.
Warm Spaces information meeting for potential applicants
Ealing Council will be hosting a Teams meeting on 21st September for people who might be interested in applying for a warm space grant. The intention is to give potential applicants the opportunity to raise questions about the criteria necessary to be approved for the grant before the application period comes to a close on 29th September. National Lottery Community Fund Learning and Engagement Event
The National Lottery Community Fund is running an event for groups who have not been funded by them in the past. Please see details below:
The first section of the event will be primarily aimed at those who havent received funding from us with the second section more suited to all as a chance to network, share learning, and discuss how we can best support the sector. As such, if you only want to attend the second half then that is fine.

Warm and welcome spaces grant funding for winter 2023-24
Warm and welcome spaces
The NHS England Health Inequalities Fund has allocated £60,000 of funding to support organisations to contribute towards either setting up a new warm space or expand an existing service throughout autumn and winter. One-off grants of £1,500 are available for organisations located within the borough of Ealing.
The grant could be used to help your organisation to:
· increase the use of your space or extend the time the space is open
· start up a new space or activity
· contribute towards an increase in utility bills due to opening longer or for energy efficiency measures
· provide additional refreshments
· provide activities for the elderly, children, and families over and above those already offered
· provide activities that support the health and wellbeing of your local community over and above those already offered
· contribute towards additional volunteer expenses
Note: Grants are not available for organisations who are just continuing with an existing service throughout the winter.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 29 September 2023.
