Let’s Plant the Southall Wellbeing Way – Southall Rec to Norwood Road

Thursday 4 April 2024 10am-2pm (welcome to come for just an hour too!)  Please do register here so we know how many people to plan for.

Under 16Â’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Information for the day:

We will start the day by clearing vegetation from the planting sites and then plant a new hedge in the area which will create a butterfly corridor and also encourage more people to use the canalside for their wellbeing.

We will be meeting at 10am @  Canal & River Trust, Adelaide Yard, Unit 12 Endsleigh Industrial Estate, Endsleigh Road, Southall UB2 5QR (What3words – ///tapes.jeeps.rips). 

You have to walk / drive to the very end of the Industrial Estate and then ring on the buzzer to the right of our large steel slated gates.  You can also enter the yard from the towpath (please call 07557 138665 if coming via the towpath when at our gate (what3words ///chart.turned.eagles) so we can let you in).  We have limited parking at the yard so would encourage you to walk, cycle or if coming by car to please car share. We can store you cycles securely inside at the yard.  The nearest station is Southall which is on the Elizabeth Line.

There is a toilet and a kitchen at our office and we will be bringing our work boat which has a basic toilet on it but also provides a space to take a break on, get warm and also have some hot drinks and biscuits which we will provide. Please do bring a packed lunch as there is only one small shop close to the planting site.  You can also leave any bags on the boat. We will provide all the equipment you need but please do wear old clothes, sturdy shoes or boots as the area may be muddy. You can get changed at our office if you want to before heading out/home. We will be bringing along adult wellies with us which you can borrow but we can’t guarantee we have all sizes .  Please do check the weather in the morning and dress accordingly.
