We are delighted to invite you to the launch, at Ealing Town Hall, 10 – 1pm on Thursday 20^th October, of the Ealing Yellow Book 2022 – EalingÂ’s safeguarding guidance for voluntary, community, faith and private sector organisations.

This is a brief learning and networking event aimed at colleagues who work with Ealing children, both in the VCS & private sectors and also in statutory services who interact with them.

It will provide an opportunity for a dialogue and exchange of information about the support available to children in the borough to encourage closer working together.

And we will be distributing hard copies of the new book, for those who might not have online access.

A special dedicated Mental Health fund has been created in partnership with the West London NHS Trust and is available for Community and Voluntary Sector organisations to support the development of a community offer that will better enable mental health and wellbeing for both young people between 16 – 25 years and adults in Hounslow:

There are two strands of funding available

•            MINT funding for services for adults or young people aged 16 to 25

•            Specialist Community Forensic Team – supporting the transition of residents from secure inpatient units back into their communities and preventing people from ending up in forensic care for over 18 year olds

Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT)

As part of the NHS Long Term Plan, working alongside primary care, the voluntary sector and other partner organisations, MINT would like to continue to develop a “new community-based offer that will include access to psychological therapies, improved physical healthcare, personal and trauma- informed care, medicines management, support for self-harm and co-existing substance use, and proactive work to address racial disparities.”

The aim is to create a flexible, proactive and holistic model of community-based mental health care for people with moderate to severe mental illness across a range of diagnoses and needs, as outlined in the Community Mental Health Framework There is a specific pot of funding for work with young people aged 16 – 25 years old.

Specialist Community Forensic Teams (SCFT)

• The aim of SCFTs is to provide a more holistic assessment and package of care to support service users during their transition from inpatient secure services into the community and to prevent people needing forensic interventions.
• Our service users have often spent long periods of time detained in secure services where they have been separated from their families, communities and opportunities. It also understood that service users from particular communitiesÂ’ experience over-representation, poorer health outcomes and the stigma of both the criminal justice and mental health systems.
• We want to address the health inequalities through community-based programmes for people over 18 years old leaving secure care to live in the community and/or people who may be at risk of contact with the criminal justice system. In particular, to work with providers to develop opportunities for service users to reconnect with their culture and identity; their local community; find ways of socially engaging and building friendships.

Proposals are accepted for up to £50,000 towards revenue projects (some capital spend can be included to support delivery).
