The Race Equality Commission was set up in January 2021, and was made up of 12 independent commissioners, from diverse backgrounds that broadly reflect the diversity of Ealing. The Commission was led by Lord Simon Woolley, founder of Operation Black Vote and President of Homerton College (Cambridge University), as Chair of the Commission.

Having listened extensively to local people, the Race Equality Commission has completed its programme of work and the Commission’s report was published in January 2022.

All demands of the report were agreed by the Council and its LSP partners.  The next stage is to translate the demands of the report into action plans.

The delivery of the action plans will involve a host of stakeholders and partners who will be expected to address the inequalities and disproportionate outcomes achieved by people from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds (BAME).

One of the recommendations of the Commission was the setting up of an independent CitizensÂ’ Tribunal who would hold the Council and its partners to account for the delivery of the action plan

We hope that Tribunal members and the Chair can bring a broad cross section of lived experience and expertise in one or more of the priority areas of education, health, policing, and engagement and reflect EalingÂ’s diverse population so that the collective lived experiences and skills of selected members (appoint approximately 10 members will be selected) will make a lasting and significant contribution in helping to achieve the outcomes of the Race Equality Action Plan.

The Mayor of London and Impact on Urban Health (IoUH) invite individuals and organisation to apply for up to £10,000 in funding and support to test new ways of measuring civic and community strength. 

What is on offer?

A package of funding and support is available to help you to find new ways to measure civic and community strength in London. 

The challenge seeks to bolster the evidence base that underpins the Civic Strength Index, whilst also strengthening our understanding, methods, and ways of working with civic data.

This programme aims to deliver a collaborative, innovation-led approach to supporting the Civic Strength Index. We want to leverage our city’s innovation to support a greater understanding of civic data in London.

Little Village is a baby bank which provides pre-loved clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of five whose families are facing financial hardship. The Hounslow hub is a new development for Little Village, and we are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals who are willing to get stuck in and work proactively and flexibly to help build the operation.

 Hub Manager

£32,000 pa, 35 hours per week. Fixed Term Contract until December 2023

As the Hub Manager, you will be responsible for running a smooth efficient hub operation, ensuring we have the right levels and right type of stock to meet the needs of local families.

 Session Lead (x2)

£13.10 per hour, 35 hours per week. Fixed Term Contract until Dec 2023

As the Session Lead, you will manage a team of volunteers to ensure the volunteering session is run effectively, productively and in line with Little Village values. You will also ensure volunteer tasks are completed and the hub is set up for the following days activities.

 

Big Kit Session Lead

£13.10 per hour, 35 hours per week. Fixed Term Contract until Dec 2023

As the Big Kit Session Lead, you will be responsible for all incoming big kit (beds, buggies and highchairs) and manage a team of volunteers to ensure the volunteering session is run effectively, productively and in line with Little Village values. You will also ensure volunteer tasks involving big kit are completed effectively and meet our quality standards and the hub is set up for the following days activities.

 Packer (x2)

£13.10 per hour, 35 hours per week. Fixed Term Contract until Dec 2023

As the Packer, you will ensure the bundles we put together for families are made up with great quality, neatly packed donations and that they are dispatched as efficiently as possible

The NHS North West London CCG are reviewing their database and want more local groups to become members.

In summary, the existing database consists of residents, a few charities, community groups and voluntary organisations.  It is linked to the Ealing Integrated Care Partnership Board which was set up to support the development of greater partnership working and reports into one North West London CCG.

They would like to increase the membership wider to community groups and so I am extending the invite to groups in our network, to let me know if your organisation would like to join their mailing list?

Mailing list members will be kept up to date with news and information about health services in the community and hospitals, health awareness events together with opportunities for residents to get involved.
