Mentors Needed

Could you give just one hour a month to make the difference in the life of a young person? We’re seeking mentors from across a variety of professions for our exciting, new Connected Futures: Young Leaders Programme. 

Hounslow’s Promise are recruiting 100 mentors for our Connected Futures: Young Leaders Programme, to support 150 18–24-year-olds from across Hounslow who are seeking work or takin their next step into a new or permanent role.  

A good mentor can inspire renewed self-belief and motivation – they are trusted to be neutral and without judgement. For young people who otherwise may not have anyone to turn to and reflect on life experiences, this can make all the difference to success.

Connected Futures: Young Leaders Programme

Would you like a mentor to help you take the next steps in achieving your goals? 

If you’re from Hounslow, you can apply to be one the first cohort in our Connected Futures: Young Leaders Programme. For 150 18- to 24-year-olds, this exciting 9-month leadership and networking programme will help you gain new skills to support your employability and success in work 

You will meet and hear from local businesses, media and community leaders, and learn how to start a business or enterprise of your own, by visiting different companies and exciting workplaces in the local area.  

Through your own one to one mentor, you will be supported to develop your life goals and aspirations. You will meet consistently with your mentor, who will guide you through the programme and support your pursuit of your next carer step.

Creating a safe space for HounslowÂ’s young LGBTQ+ community this autumn

In collaboration with The Wild Mind Project, Chiswick House & Gardens Trust are running a series of workshops for local 16-25 year-olds who identify as LGBTQ+. Small groups will be invited to share experiences in confidence whilst participating in gardening and creative activities in the Kitchen Garden at Chiswick House. Horticulture Apprentice

Chiswick House & Gardens Trust are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Garden Apprentice to work alongside their Kitchen Gardener to carry out a wide range of gardening activity. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a key member of their gardens team working at the award-winning Chiswick House and Gardens. Thriving Communities Revenue Fund: Second Round Deadline 9am 1 November

Revenue Fund

These grants provide funding from £1,000 up to £25,000 to constituted not-for-profit organisations for projects or activities that help to deliver the key outcomes of the Thriving Communities Strategy

The Revenue Fund provides grants to support the delivery of a community project, service or activity where there is no lasting asset.

For the second round of this fund (which is currently open until 9am 1 November) Hounslow Council are encouraging applications that focus on these areas:

  • Supporting young people aged between 13 – 21
  • Improving health and wellbeing
  • Supporting carers
  • Support for Hounslow Housing tenants

They are also very pleased to be working in partnership with the Hounslow Integrated Care Partnership who have provided £50,000 of extra funding to support projects that will help to improve:

  • Public health and early intervention
  • Problems with mental health
  • Health problems of people who are frail and vulnerable

Are you currently pressing the SpaceBar key several times to get text lined up?Working with Word Tables is an effective workshop giving plenty of hands-on experience. It will enable you to have the confidence and skills to create, edit and format Word tables.Audience: Those who have never had formal training in Microsoft Word or who learnt some time ago and would like to update their skills. This session will be of benefit to anyone who wants to be able to layout text in appropriate ways. Sometimes although people have used tables for some time, they are not aware of techniques such as getting two or more columns to be of equal width. Anyone who uses tables but feels they are not using them to their full potential should also attend.

Outreach Activities
The Ealing and Hounslow Volunteer Centre team is excited to be working with Community Solutions within Hounslow CouncilÂ’s Outreach Programme. EHCVS advisors will be available to speak with groups face to face and discuss their volunteering, policy and digital needs or schedule training and workshops.

The Outreach Programme commences at The Steam Museum on the morning of September 9th from 9:30 am – 14:00. Please email digital@ehcvs.org.uk to request some 1-1 time at a future event.

We are still recruiting Digital Champions. If you work for a charity, are a volunteer or a trustee, or would like to make a difference to your local community, please do consider sharing your digital skills with others and volunteer today to be a Digital Champion! We are particularly interested in anyone with Word Press experience as many of our local groups need support updating and maintaining websites.
Advice and Support for Your Voluntary & Community Organisation
The EHCVS Digital Inclusion Project in Hounslow provides free help to support the development of smaller Hounslow based community organisations. An initial session via zoom or a phone call can last for up to 45 minutes and a follow-up meeting can be provided if necessary. If you would like help with developing the digital capacity of your organisation, supporting your services users to improve their digital skills or creating a relevant Digital Strategy for your community organisation, please do book a session.
