The Gas Safe Charity runs free, on line ‘Think CO’ workshops to raise awareness of carbon monoxide (CO) risks in the homes of vulnerable people. They are aimed at those staff and volunteers who provide support in the home. After the training you will be more aware of the sources, signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning and understand what to do if you suspect a CO incident. Earlier this year a member of the North Yorkshire County Council’s reablement team was visiting a client, only a few weeks after attending the Think CO workshop. He spotted a gas fire showing signs that it was not working properly and the client described headaches, nausea and dizziness. After an emergency visit from a Gas Safe registered engineer, the fire was condemned because it was leaking carbon monoxide. This is an example of why this training is so important; it raises awareness and it can save lives. If you or a team member would like to participate in a free, hour long Think CO workshop please click on this link to book:Â https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/115618952399
ItÂ’s time we create a better London, one thatÂ’s more equal, more connected and where everyone can take part. Today, partners are announcing a festival that will explore our individual and collective visions and plans for strong communities in London.
We are inviting everyone to take part in the festival. Can you host an event, a conversation, an activity or a celebration that explores what makes strong communities in London?
We’ll be sharing a helpful toolkit on the 17th of May, holding information sessions and will open applications for small grants to informal groups or organisations with a turnover of less than £100k to host activity during the festival.
Register for an information session below or tell us about your ideas for the festival.
For more information, email: civilsociety@london.gov.uk, or read about our mission to Build Strong Communities.

The Community Solutions Offer to residents builds on the success of the CouncilÂ’s Community Hub and the significant collaboration with and across HounslowÂ’s VCSE sector, volunteers and community groups, which was initially in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Â It is a collaborative model involving cross sector partners, and aims to better connect residents to local activities and services, and to get advice and guidance to enable them to live healthier, happier and more independent lives. Â Residents will be able to access support and information in person at community locations across the borough, via phone, and through the One Hounslow Connect platform (an online information, advice and guidance hub).
Community Solutions represents a real shift from traditional methods of service delivery and we welcome the opportunity to work closely with VCSE partners on its development and delivery. Â Please join us at the Hounslow Voice Network on 19 May to find out more about the Community Solutions approach, One Hounslow Connect, and how your organisation can work with us on it.
