The Borough Recovery Plan has recognised the need for the Council to make better use of our position as an anchor institution and the importance of ‘opening up’ our community assets and spaces to better support resident, community and voluntary groups and wider civil society. It also sets out our aspiration to work with communities to shape the places in which they live.
As we begin to move away from the restrictions of the past year, safe, good quality and accessible spaces will be critical to support the delivery of services and access to support, and to help bring residents together and reduce isolation.
A review of the CouncilÂ’s community assets is now underway and will help inform the investment and development works needed to ensure the right community asset, in the right location.
We would like to invite residentsÂ’ groups, community organisations, local charities and anyone else with an interest in community buildings and spaces to join us at the workshops below to consider:
- What are the key community buildings and spaces across the borough (council and other)?
- How can local assets (building and other spaces) help support delivery or and access to services?
- What are the current challenges and opportunities that we need to consider?
