Hounslow Council is starting a dialogue with key partners in the Borough on how we can work collaboratively to mitigate the negative impact of Welfare Reforms.
This is part of an initial 3 stage dialogue which will help devise a joint action plan to help residents across the Borough mitigate the unintended consequence of Reforms.
If you work in:
an advice setting providing advice and support to residents
within a Food Bank or a project to address food poverty issues
a charity dealing with fuel poverty
an organisation assisting residents into employment
a housing association operating in the Borough
Or, if you are interested in poverty alleviation stemming from Welfare Reforms come and join Cllr Lilly Bath and partners a such as the Citizen Advice – Job Centre Plus and various Council departments for an initial dialogue with on how we can start devising a coordinated and effective approach to mitigate the impact of reforms and poverty on Tuesday the 23rd of July at 10.30 in Hounslow House.

Bolder not Older dance classes
- For active adults aged 55-75, we offer Bolder not Older Company classes, where participants work with professional choreographers to create exciting and challenging dance work. (Our Bolder not Older Company recently performed at Sadler’s Wells Elixir Festival).
- For adults aged 65-80, we offer gentle standing or seated-to-standing classes.
- For adults aged 80+, we offer seating-to-standing or fully seated classes.
Hounslow Programme Coordinator Vacancy
Learn English at Home are seeking a new Hounslow ESOL Programme Coordinator to join our committed team and help us achieve our goals of improving support for our clients and volunteers and building strong relationships with referrers and other partners in the borough of Hounslow. The Coordinator will support our volunteers to deliver our services, including home-based ESOL support and classes in small group settings. This work includes assessing the needs of female clients through visits to their homes. It is therefore an occupational requirement of this role that the post holder is female*.
*This is in accordance with the provisions of the 2010 Equality Act (Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1).
We are looking for someone with experience of and commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment with a vulnerable client group of females. She will also have experience of volunteer management, teaching ESOL and of planning and delivering training. The person we are looking for will be able to work flexibly and on their own initiative, but also have strong communication and team-working skills.
