Places of worship: security funding scheme
The Places of Worship: security funding scheme Is part of the wider cross government work to stop all forms of hate crime and will provide protective security measures to places of worship in England and Wales.
To meet the criteria, you need to demonstrate that any crimes committed at your place of worship (or one not necessarily of the same faith within a 2 mile radius) was motivated by hostility or prejudice based on religion or belief.
Bids will only be considered from official places of worship. Schools, educational institutions, community centres, NHS establishments (including chapels and prayer rooms) and any places that may hold religious services are not eligible to apply.
You can only bid for security equipment e.g. CCTV, perimeter fencing, window locks, intruder alarms and lighting. Places of worship will also need to contribute 20% of the total costs.
The latest round of funding opened on 3 April and will run until 29th May 2017.
If you would like additional information, support with an application or just want to discuss whether you could be eligible for support, please email: Philip Doyle, Community Engagement Coordinator, LB Hounslow at philip.doyle@hounslow.gov.uk
