Come and join us at the Wellbeing Network Hounslow. We put people at the heart of their own recovery, we hope to combat social isolation and loneliness and improve the overall health and wellbeing of local residents. Together we share our strengths, skills, knowledge and experiences.
ItÂ’s a place where people can find out whatÂ’s happening in their local area, connect with others and find out about valuable support networks. It offers the opportunity to:
·        Meet local people
·        Share information
·        Get involved in community activities
·        Open the door to social opportunities
·        The option for individuals to meet with a Wellbeing Partner.
Â
We meet regularly on Thursdays at the Paul Robeson Theatre, on the 1st floor of the Treaty Centre, Hounslow. There’s a weekly ‘Coffee and Chat’ on Thursdays from 11am to 12pm, and a monthly ‘Let’s Connect’ meeting on every second Thursday of the month (8th Dec, 12th Jan, 9th Feb and so on) from 10am to 2pm. New Hounslow Safeguarding Children Guidance
The new Hounslow Safeguarding Children Guidance is now available. This guidance document has been produced by Hounslow Voluntary Sector Support Service (HVSSS) on behalf of the Hounslow Safeguarding Children Board (HSCB). The Book aims to inform the day-to-day work of staff or volunteers who are in direct contact with children, young people, or families and gives relevant policy and procedures.
All groups within the voluntary and community and faith sectors should have a Nominated Safeguarding Person (NSP). Nominated Safeguarding Persons (NSPs), Deputy Nominated Safeguarding Persons, trustees and senior managers are advised to read through the document and explore resources & contacts referenced in the Book.
An electronic copy of the guidance can be found here. By having the Book online, we can ensure that you are always able to access the most recent version, reflecting changes in national guidance or legislation.

New partnership agreement signed between Hounslow Council , Hounslow CCG and the voluntary sector in Hounslow
Hounslow Council is very pleased to announce the signing of the new Hounslow Compact on Thursday 3rd November at the Hounslow Civic Centre.
This is the voluntary agreement between public bodies and the voluntary and community sector in Hounslow and was jointly signed by the leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Steve Curran and the Chair of Hounslow Community Network, Debbie Brenner.
The new Hounslow Compact has been developed in collaboration with all of the key stakeholders in the borough, and will support the vital role played by the voluntary organisations in Hounslow in strengthening local communities.
In Hounslow we have over 600 voluntary and community organisations involving thousands of local volunteers. They provide a diverse range of services across the borough and what they have in common is the ability to improve the lives of those who live, work, visit or volunteer in Hounslow
Leader of the Council, Cllr Steve Curran said,
“As council budgets are being reduced, partnerships will play a greater role in sustaining and increasing gains in the wellbeing and resilience of our communities and the voluntary sector.
This will mean communities doing more and having greater influence over services, including being able to design them, with new opportunities to have a say and get involved in local activities. This new Compact will help us all to work better together as partners for the good of local residents”
Chair of Hounslow Community Network, Debbie Brenner said.,
“We welcome the recognition and commitment shown by the council and the CCG to the voluntary sector as valued partners in the planning and delivery of community services. We look forward to a continued trusting and open relationship so that communities can take a full part in decisions that affect them”

Community Kitchen Project
Green Corridor is running a questionnaire to establish potential interest in the use of a proposed new community kitchen at their Learning & Development Site, located on Stanwell Moor Road, TW19 6BS near Heathrow T5.
The questionnaire shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to complete and all personal information will be kept confidential. The deadline for the questionnaire to be completed is the 30th November 2016.
The proposed community kitchen will be a state of the art facility used to deliver training and development programmes for their disadvantaged young people with special educational needs and learning differences.
Green Corridor grow lots of vegetables in their polytunnel and growing plots on site which they currently have to give away! However their young people have expressed a real desire to learn how to pick, cook and serve the produce they have so lovingly grown in order to learn new life skills and to consider future employment in the field of catering and hospitality.
This is the basis of their bid to the Big Lottery Fund to create a new community kitchen that they are also keen to make available for use by local groups in the area.
Use of the community kitchen will be free for groups located in the 20% most deprived areas of West London and for all others there will be a nominal fee per session. They do have a minibus that can be available for pick up and drop off back to your local area.
The community kitchen will have 4 work-stations with space for up to 8-10 people and will be fully equipped with appliances and utensils, a full kitchen guide, including instructions, health & safety and standards of hygiene.
Their horticulture tutors can also give you friendly advice on how to grow your own food in your gardens, allotments, patios, window boxes and community spaces.
Although you will be required to bring along your own ingredients you can make use of the seasonal produce they grow on site. From April next year this will also include harvesting of locally grown oyster and shiitake mushrooms from a social enterprise they are starting up on site.

One more week to complete the VCSE Survey
There is still time to complete Hounslow Council’s survey of the organisations that make up Hounslow’s Voluntary and Community Sector. You will then have a chance of winning £50 in the Prize Draw.
All voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in Hounslow are encouraged to complete the survey because it gives us the opportunity to give the council some feedback on our activities over the last 12 months and identify areas where we are facing challenges and need support.
It will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
The online survey can be found at: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/vcse_survey_2016
Alternatively you can find a printable version of the survey by visiting:
