Rocket Science is currently working with the London Borough of Hounslow to undertake a holistic review of the Voluntary and Community Sector within the borough. We are seeking to speak to as many stakeholders as possible to ensure we understand your needs and your views on the existing and potential future relationship between the Council and VCSE sector.
A Community Assets Focus Group will be held at the Civic Centre in Hounslow on Thursday 21 June, 2pm to 3.30pm (Committee Room 2). Please come along to help us build a better picture of the current use of community buildings across the borough, and any gaps or unmet needs.

Safeguarding Support for the voluntary and community sector: NSPCC London Road Show
The NSPCC has recently launched a new range of free resources to support voluntary and community sector organisations with their safeguarding arrangements. In addition, we provide affordable, bespoke training and consultancy that is tailored specifically to smaller groups and projects within the sector. For more information, visit www.nspcc.org.uk/vcs
We are hosting a free, informal, drop-in event run by the NSPCC at The Guildhall (North Wing) Room 2 on Wednesday 11th July 2018. Here, over a drink and a bite to eat, you can find out more about what is on offer, pick up copies of the resources, and chat to members of NSPCC staff about any aspect of the service that is of interest to you. Stay for as long as you like, or simply pop in for 20 minutes. Â
If you know youÂ’d like to come, book your place by completing the Eventbrite form via

Birth and Beyond Community Support
NCT Birth and Beyond community support is a local peer support project that works with pregnant women and mothers with children under two living in the Feltham and Hounslow area to provide emotional support and practical help accessing local services. NCT recruits and trains local mothers to become volunteer peer supporters giving them a free 20 hour OCN accredited course. Once qualified peer supporters are matched with women who are referred to NCT via local services such as midwifery, health visiting and childrenÂ’s centres. The aim is for peers to develop a long-term trusting relationship with the mothers in order to impact positively upon their health and wellbeing, reduce their risk of social isolation and improve their experience of being a parent which will also improve the long term outcomes for children. This project has also launched in Peterborough, South Yorkshire, Birmingham and Lincolnshire and is funded by NESTA until March 2019.
The project is currently recruiting for volunteers to train from September at a local childrenÂ’s centre. Â The project is also happy to take referrals for women requiring support.
