GLA Democratic Participation grants are open!
2024 has already been a major year for democracy in London. But democracy doesn’t end after elections; it relies on active participation and sustained engagement to thrive.
That is why today we are excited to announce the launch of phase three of our Democratic Participation community grants, part of our wider Greater London Authority (GLA) Civic and Democratic participation programme.
As most of you know, phase three of our Democratic Participation grants programme was initially launched on 21 May 2024. Following the announcement on 22 May, that a general election was due to take place on 4th July, we had to put this on hold. Thank you to those of you who attended our online launch event or expressed interest in applying to the fund back in May. You will recognise a lot of the content here from our previous launch, but the aims, timeline and available grant sizes have been slightly adjusted to better suit the post-election landscape.
Grants of up to £25,000 are available to equity-led organisations to run impartial projects in trusted community settings between September 2024 (to support the annual GLA London Voter Registration Week) and June 2025. Successful projects will support eligible Londoners, but especially under-registered and under-represented communities, to exercise their civic and democratic rights at the ballot box and beyond. Full details are available here: https://www.groundwork.org.uk/london/gla-democratic-participation-grants/
You are invited to an online workshop to find out more about the programme and application process. Please read the prospectus (also available in BSL and Easy Read) ahead of the workshop.
