Desperately Seeking Storage
Hounslow & Twickenham Woodcraft Folk are urgently seeking storage space for their camping equipment as the council garage they rent has become unaffordable. They were awarded a National Lottery grant a few years ago to buy an additional £9000 worth of camping equipment, so they need quite a big space. Something equivalent to a standard garage, or indeed a garage, would be ideal but it must be secure, dry and vermin-proof. Ideally it would be somewhere close to Hounslow/Twickenham though they will consider anything suitable within a reasonable distance. They are currently paying over £25 per week so are looking for somewhere cheaper than that. Offers of storage space/questions can be emailed to info@hounslowwoodcraft.org.uk.
State of the Sector Event

[et_pb_row admin_label=”row”]
[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Date: Wednesday 14th April 2021
Time: 10.00am 12.00.pm
Venue: Zoom Video Conference
The last year has brought considerable hardship to the voluntary and community sector and voluntary organisations have faced challenges in responding. The sector in Ealing is diverse and the crisis has impacted differently. Many have seen rising demand for services, a dramatic reduction in income, difficulty in providing support in lockdown and less staff and volunteer capacity, however the community-led response has been incredible in the places we live and online. People have come together to help each other with food, medicine and friendship. Voluntary organisations, large and small, have responded swiftly and often innovatively and are key partners in a successful recovery programme.
In collaboration with the London Borough of Ealing and NHS Ealing Clinical Commissioning Group, EHCVSs annual state of the sector review will be hosting a focus event to give a platform to the voices of the sector and we would like to invite our voluntary sector colleagues to participate in this event, as an attendee you will be either a community or voluntary sector group engaged in delivery to the residents of Ealing. Your will have the opportunity to discuss your views and feed directly into LBE and CCG policy considerations.
The aim of this event is to understand what the current state of the VCSE sector is in four areas:
· Impact of COVID
· Changes in operations and funding
· Emerging opportunities / Recovery post pandemic
· Challenges and sector needs going forward
We look forward to meeting with you and hearing your views.

Community Grant Funding opportunity: (Deadline: Saturday 20 March)
OPDC are open for new submissions for Small Grants: In the Making, through which we will be investing over £190k into grass-roots initiatives that uncover, showcase and celebrate what makes Old Oak and Park Royal special, as well as mobilise and support volunteering across the area.
Local groups can apply for up to £5000 to support their proposals, and the final deadline for submissions is Saturday 20 March 2021.
There are now two types of grant you can apply for:
- Arts and Heritage Grants:
Launched in January 2019, these grants are designed to support community arts, culture and heritage projects taking place in Old Oak and Park Royal, led by those living and working in the area. - NEW – Community Volunteering Grants:
Through our recent work with GLAs London Community Response team during Covid-19, we have identified a need among community organisations, resident associations and mutual aid groups for support and expertise in areas such as: applying for grant funding, volunteer training, governance, safeguarding, equipment and expenses such as fuel for food deliveries. We have now opened a new pot of funding specifically ringfenced for community organisations who require support to enable more local people to volunteer and share their skills with the wider community.
Please see our website for more information and to register your organisation on the application portal. If you have any queries on making a submission you can contact us via email – grants@opdc.london.gov.uk
