Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Training

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Training is a training programme designed to support staff to encourage positive changes in behaviour and lifestyle for our local residents.
The training is aimed at staff who have day-to-day contact with local people. The main focus of the training is to give you the skills to have conversations with people about their health.
Conversation topics that will be covered in training include: Alcohol, smoking, mental health, physical activity and nutrition.
Time commitment: One half day workshop, with supplementary e-learning.

Vacancy Finance Officer

Home-Start provides vital support to families with children under 5 years. Over the last year we have extended our work across Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow. Last year they helped make a difference to the lives of over 400 families and 700 children.

They are recruiting for a Finance Officer.

Finance Officer

21 hours per week working Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-5pm

Salary Level NJC 26-28 £15,145-£16,084 including outer London allowance

(£25,242-£26,808 full time equivalent) plus contributory pension

You will provide effective, efficient and timely financial administration support across all areas of accounts and financial processing and contribute to the administration of the charity.

Highly numerate, with experience of working in a finance role, you will be well organised and able to balance the competing priorities of a small, busy charity.

Working hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9-5 pm, with occasional evening working to service Board of Trustees 6 meetings per year. The role is based at our East Sheen office working across the charity so will require occasional working from our Hounslow office.

NHS England will be awarding grants of up to £2,000 to a number of voluntary sector projects that showcase good practice around patient and citizen participation in healthcare

In your application you’ll need to tell us about how you have involved patients and citizens in a healthcare project, and how you plan to use the grant to share and showcase your work in a creative way.
The grants can only be awarded to a voluntary organisation. Please ensure you read the guidance document before you apply, to check that your organisation and project is eligible. If you are eligible you will need to complete the application form by 31 October 2017.

Demonstrate Your Impact Workshop – Tues 24th Oct 10:30am – 1:30pm

This half-day workshop is for front-line staff and service managers working in London-based homelessness agencies wanting to improve their knowledge about the importance of data collection and how to use your data to improve service provision. The benefits of data collection: This half-day workshop will support staff to explore the importance of data collection and how they can use it to inform and improve service provision. Who is the workshop for? The workshop is suitable for those who already collect basic data, but are keen to improve their processes and learn more about basic principles behind good data collection techniques. Aims of the workshop: The workshop will provide attendees with:

an improved understanding of different types of data and how they can be used to inform service provision;
practical ways to improve data collection;
different tools to help present data and influence different audiences; and
an opportunity to discuss challenges and ways to overcome these.

There is no charge to attend. Places are limited – book your place.

Hounslow Voluntary Sector Learning Bank

The newly launched Hounslow Voluntary Sector Learning Bank has been created as a One Stop Shop providing local groups with useful information and resources to support their work.
The Learning Bank has been divided into four sections and each section has lots of useful links as well as local groups offering their knowledge too.
The four sections are E-Learning and Free Training, Toolkits for Groups, Ideas from Local Groups and Free stuff for Groups.
The Learning Bank aims to allow local groups to share their ideas and useful knowledge of resources. Information could include a free service that you have used and found very useful, organisations offering free professional volunteering to groups or anything that you feel would be useful for other groups to be aware off. Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment

NHS Hounslow CCG are seeking the publics views on the draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment. The consultation runs until 17th November 2017. Your comments will inform the final Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment which will be produced by 1st April 2018.

Pharmaceutical services are one of the many services currently provided under the NHS by community pharmacies and include:
dispensing of medicines and appliances on prescription
sale of medicines to the public
providing advice to the public on medicines, coping with ill health or general health and well being
receiving waste medicines for safe destruction
Some pharmaceutical services may be provided by dispensing GP practices or dispensing appliance contractors. There are no dispensing GP practices in Hounslow.

The draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment is available at www.hounslow.gov.uk/pnaconsultation It is also available in a paper format at London Borough of Hounslow libraries. Isleworth & Hounslow Charity Fund

The Isleworth & Hounslow Charity Ltd distributes one-off grants of up to £300 to individuals residing in the London Borough of Hounslow and £500 to the work of organisations in the Borough. Grants are awarded for relief in need and relief of sickness.
