This year was the first time, A2Dominion Housing Group, Catalyst Housing and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing have teamed up to launch a collective fund to support small organisations, residents groups and charity to celebrating black history.
In our first round, we managed to support seven unique projects, including African drumming classes at West Thames College and African Families in the UK (AFiUK); Sister Talk project an International Day for the elimination of Violence Against Women which was a day of activities that provided black African heritage women with a platform to discuss gender-based issues.
This fund provides grants of up to £500 throughout the year for events, activities and projects celebrating black history; it is open to applications from residents, community groups, schools and local organisations.
