Goodbye to the Feltham Green Island Willow Tree

On the Feltham Green island, there are currently two willow trees, one of which has become hollow and is leaning dangerously toward the water. This poses a significant risk, as its eventual collapse could damage the retaining wall and potentially destroy the island itself, a man‑made structure dating back to 1865. To prevent further deterioration, the diseased tree will be removed THIS WEEK. It will be replaced with two young willow trees. Brambles have already been cleared; new shrubs will be planted to stabilise and enhance the area and duck ladders will be installed to support local wildlife. A windmill artwork is also awaiting installation as part of the island’s revitalisation.

Friends of Feltham Green

1.        Freddie Mercury would have turned 80 this year (5th September 1946). The Friends of Feltham Green are currently finalising their plans to celebrate. If anyone locally is planning a celebration, the Friends of Feltham Green would be happy to help promote your event. Just let them know what you are planning by emailing felthamgreen@outlook.com

2.        Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 4th April at Feltham Green. Details on the fun day will be publicised on their Facebook page soon.

HPV Vaccine Community Grant (Faith & Young People)

RM Partners – HPV Vaccine Community Grant (Faith Groups
and Young People)

Overview
RM Partners NHS Cancer Alliance for north-west and south-west London is offering up
to £500 to local community and voluntary groups to deliver a one-off session focusing
on the HPV Vaccine. We are specifically looking for applications from organisations that
work with either:
• faith based communities or
• young people aged 11-19

You will be supported to share key messaging about the HPV vaccine, to answer
frequently asked questions about the vaccine, and given guidance on how to structure
conversations with your communities. All events, activities and messaging must meet
our criteria to support local communities to stay healthy and well.

All sessions must be delivered in a community setting between 1st May – 31st May 2026.

Training and support
RM Partners will run a 1-hour clinical webinar in advance of the campaign period.
The webinar will provide you with the key messages for sharing with your communities,
local signposting information, and information around how to conduct your session.
The webinar will be led by our GP Clinical Leads and/or other healthcare professionals.
Each webinar will cover key information including:
• Key data in terms of the HPV vaccine and current vaccination rates across
north west and south west London
• The benefits of the HPV vaccine
• Eligibility and criteria for the HPV vaccine
• Frequently Asked Questions about the HPV vaccine
• Practical information regarding school vaccination clinics and parental
consent
A Community Toolkit will also be provided following the webinar, these will be tailored to
the community you are working with.

Requirements
At least 1 person from your organisation must attend the relevant clinical webinar held
by RM Partners Cancer Alliance.
There will be two separate clinical webinars:

• The HPV Vaccine & Faith: Wednesday 15th April, 10:30-11:30
• The HPV Vaccine & Young People: Wednesday 29th April, 10:30-11:30

Your organisation must attend the relevant webinar to secure the funding for this

NEW: easyfundraising Impact Fund : 20 x £500 unrestricted grants

The new easyfundraising Impact Fund is now open with 20 unrestricted grants of £500 for UK not-for-profit organisations to help them continue or enhance their work.  The grant is unrestricted, so it can be used wherever the money is needed most to support your work.

 

When to apply: 23 February – 5 April

Who can apply:

The fund is open to UK based:

  • Registered charities
  • Other not-for-profit organisations
  • Sports clubs and teams
  • Schools and education settings
  • Social enterprises and CICs
  • After-school and youth groups
  • Churches and religious organisations

 

How it’s awarded: The application form is straightforward. Grants will be awarded to organisations that best explain how they would use the £500. The grants will be awarded across a mix of categories and locations, and the fund is open to organisations of all sizes and structures.

Heathrow Community Trust Round 1 grant funding programme deadlines

Organisations can apply for single-year funding or one-off projects. This single-year restriction applies to new applications from 2026 onwards, so existing projects awarded two years’ funding in 2024 and 2025 will continue as awarded.

Environment and Sustainability

  • grants of up to £15,000 for projects costing no more than £60,000
  • for 2026, round 1 of 2 opened on 2 January and closes on 26 February
  • decisions announced 16 April

Heathrow Active People Initiative (HAPi) and Matched Funding

  • programmes for Heathrow colleagues
  • HAPi grants up to £2,500
  • 50% matched funding for fundraising, awards of up to £250 per colleague
  • for 2026, round 1 of 2 opened on 2 January and closes on 19 March
  • decisions announced 7 May

Projects for Young People

  • grants up to £15,000 for projects costing no more than £60,000
  • for 2026, round 1 of 2 opened 12 February and closes on 26 March
  • decisions announced on 4 June

Communities Together Large

  • grants of up to £15,000 for projects costing no more than £60,000
  • one round in 2026, which opened on 19 February and closes on 9 April
  • decisions announced on 25 June.

This workshop provides Charity Trustees with an refresher on legal responsibilities, reinforces accountability, and promotes strategic align
Charity trustees are collectively responsible for governance, financial oversight, and ensuring the organization’s long-term sustainability. Research undertaken by the Claude Littner Business School at University of West London conducted together with local charities has identified several challenges: – Varied understanding of trustees’ legal responsibilities and Charity Commission expectations – Need for stronger financial oversight and sustainability planning – Desire to improve fundraising and grant application effectiveness. This structured workshop provides a focused opportunity to address these issues, reinforce accountability, and promote strategic alignment among trustees.

 Make a difference – Help reduce racial inequalities

This work builds on the foundations laid by Ealing’s Race Equality Commission (REC), which is part of a broader movement across London to tackle racial inequality. The REC supports national initiatives like the Race Equality Act and Labour Party manifesto commitments.

What sets Ealing apart is its independent Citizens’ Tribunal — the only one of its kind in London. As the council’s critical friend, the group provides a transparent, community-led mechanism for ensuring accountability and tracking progress. The Tribunal’s core objectives are:

  • To hold the council and its partners to account on the delivery of its commitment and responsibilities to fight race inequality and promote race equality.
  • To suggest ideas and initiatives for how the council can most effectively fight race inequality and promote race equality.

Over the past two years, Tribunal members have worked to support this mission by working alongside a wide range of stakeholders and partners. Their efforts aim to address longstanding inequalities and disproportionality experienced by Black, Asian, and other minoritised communities.

The Tribunal intends to add additional members to the team. We are looking for individuals with a broad range of lived experience and/or professional expertise to support the following areas:

Additional members will strengthen the current team, reflecting Ealing’s diverse residents by bringing their insights and lived experiences to help address race inequalities to make a lasting positive impact.
