Wellbeing in The Workplace

Workplace Health

Many of us spend a lot of our waking hours at work, so addressing wellbeing at work can make an enormous difference to individual wellbeing and supports the development of safe and healthy workplaces.

Organisations that take the time to recognise their impact and actively promote health and wellbeing at work are more likely to have well, productive, loyal staff, and lose less staff hours to sickness and absence.

To support organisations on the road to addressing wellbeing in the workplace Ealing CVS have produced an easy to use booklet explaining the benefits. The booklet is a fun and interactive tool with lots of top tips, easy to use and implement suggestions and has a whole section on resources, many of which are free.

London Healthy Workplace Charter is an assessment framework that provides a series of standards for workplaces to meet under key headings. Inspired by the London 2012 legacy employers are encouraged to work towards three levels set out in the charter.

Workplace Challenge is a national programme from County Sports Partnership Network funded by Sport England which aims to engage workplaces in sport and physical activity. In partnership with the British Heart Foundation, the Workplace Challenge has coordinated a series of training sessions focusing on how to improve the health and wellbeing of your organisation’s workforce. British Heart Foundation – Health at Work has lots of fun, free and easy to use resources.

Twining Enterprise, a local Charity, specialise in supporting people into work with mental ill health and offer support to employers to help make your workplace mentally healthier.

Mind – Mental Health at Work. There are small, simple steps you can take to make your workplace mentally healthier.

The Health and Safety Executive have produced a leaflet which can be downloaded for FREE on Display Screen Equipment workstation checklist. It lists risk factors in six areas, with ‘yes’/’no’ tick boxes: keyboards, mouse and trackball, display screens, software, furniture and work environment.

Workplace Supervision and Feedback. Research from The Social Care Institute of Excellence shows that good quality supervision can help managers get the best out of staff/volunteers. More information and free templates and resources can be found here.
