West Ealing Community Managed Library

From 2021 to 2024, West Ealing Community Managed Library grew into a welcoming neighbourhood hub where residents could access support, learning, activities and volunteering opportunities in one familiar local space. EHCVS’s vision for the library was to create more than a library service alone: a place where people could connect, learn, receive support and take part in community life close to home.

Over time, the library became a base for a wide range of activities, from English classes and digital support to children’s activities and health and wellbeing drop-ins. It stood as a strong example of how local spaces could be repurposed to support connection, inclusion and practical neighbourhood support.

Impact:

• 40 volunteers recruited by 2021/22.
• 10,000 residents accessed services in 2022/23.
