Monkeypox funding announced
Published on: 6 January 2023
Funding from the Equality Hub (within Cabinet Office) has been secured to run an in-year grants scheme aimed at supporting cross-Whitehall commitments to improve health outcomes for LGBT+ people.
The Fund launched on 20 December 2022 with a total of £200,000 available. Voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations can bid for up to £30,000 per project to develop and deliver outreach and engagement projects for health protection interventions within underserved LGBT+ populations. This might include, for example, projects to:
- ensure underserved eligible populations can access vaccinations for monkeypox and for other sexually transmissible infections.
- improve knowledge, understanding and access to STI/HIV testing, HIV PrEP and other preventative interventions.
- reduce stigma associated with monkeypox, STIs and HIV and offer culturally competent ways of addressing sexual health within LGBT communities.
All projects and spend will need to be complete by 31 March 2023. The application form and guidance setting out how eligible providers should bid for funding and the key criteria against which bids will be assessed is available on the GOV.uk website.
All bid applications including all supporting documentation must be submitted by 11.59pm on Thursday 19 January 2023. A panel made up of representatives from UKHSA and the Government Equalities Office will assess the bids.
