John Coates Charitable Trust grants – deadline 28th May 2021 at midnight

Grants are available for UK registered charities and general charitable projects that address the categories supported by the Trust and take place in London, Cambridge or surrounding area, Hampshire, North West Norfolk, North Devon, Surrey and West Sussex.

Maximum value: £ 10,000

Objectives of Fund:

The funding is for UK-registered charities which work in the following areas:

·        Education

·        The arts

·        Medicine and healthcare

·        Heritage and the environment

·        Societal and community cohesion.

Around £400,000 is awarded in grants each year to around 90 UK charities.

There are a number of charities with which the Trust has a long-standing relationship, which means that the process is highly competitive.

Generallly grants are awarded for one year. They are unrestricted and range from £5,000 to £10,000.

Only one grant will be awarded to any organisation within a 12-month period but Trustees may choose to renew their support in subsequent years.

Who Can Apply:

UK registered charities are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to large national charities and small charities which are of personal or local interest to the Trustees.

The Trustees ‘favour’ charitable organisations which can demonstrate:

·        Financial sustainability.

·        A track record of positive impact.

·        A long-term vision.

Restrictions:

The following are not eligible for funding:

·        Individuals.

·        Regional offices of national organisations.

·        Projects delivered overseas.

Eligible Expenditure:

·        The funding is for UK-registered charities which work in the following categories:

·        Education, including outdoors, disabled and prisoners’ wellbeing.

·        The arts.

·        Medicine/healthcare, including supporting service-users and funding research.

·        Heritage, conservation, and the environment.

·        Societal and community cohesion.

How To Apply:

A copy of the application questions and the online application form are available on the Trust’s website.

Applications can be made at any time. The Trustees meet twice a year, usually in January and July, to consider applications.

The Trust will let applicants know the outcome of their application, successful or not, usually within a month of the meeting.

The deadline for applications for the summer 2021 meeting is midnight on 28th May 2021
