Hounslow Carers Health & Wellbeing Event for Carers Week

Do you help a friend or family member who has a disability, illness, mental health problem, or who needs extra help as they grow older?

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness and recognise carers.

This free drop-in event offers health checks, legal advice, laughter therapy, mind-body wellbeing techniques, a light lunch and information on how we can support you.

The theme this year is helping carers stay Healthy and Connected.

Hounslow Council and the NHS Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group are delivering this event with support from West London Mental Health NHS Trust & Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, to ensure we all help carers stay Healthy and Connected.

Main event

10.20am – 10.40am: Registration

10.40am – 10.45am: Opening

10.45am – 11.05am: Improving your nutrition and smoothie making workshop

11.05am – 11.20am: CarePlace, an information and advice directory with local, national and council services, voluntary organisations and other sources of advice and support

11.20am – 11.25am: Supporting carers without access to the internet

11.25am – 11.45am: The difference between Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and Deputyship

11.45am – 12noon: A local GP speaking on the impact caring has on your health

Lunch and information stalls to follow


12.30pm – 3.30pm: Health checks, One You – Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust

1.20pm – 1.40pm: Breathing for relaxation, The Recovery College – West London Mental Health NHS Trust

1.40pm – 2pm: Mindfulness taster session, The Recovery College – West London Mental Health NHS Trust

2pm – 2.20pm: Visualisation to relax, The Recovery College – West London Mental Health NHS Trust

2.20pm – 3.30pm: Mind-body wellbeing techniques (EFT) and Q&A, EFT Matrix Reimprinting

2.45pm – 3.30pm: Laughter therapy, Laughing for Health

3.30pm – 4pm: Changes in benefits – ESA, DLA and PIP, Certitude

3.30pm – 4pm: Having difficult conversations with the person you care for, The Mulberry Centre

Come along to learn how caring impacts your health and what you can do about it.
