Sexual Health

Sexual Health

Information and resources on sexual health

There are a wide range of diseases which can be transmitted through sexual contact and for this reason people should be aware of the potential risks to their health.

Safer Sex

Sex without using a condom puts you at greater risk of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STI).  It also means using condoms correctly every time you have sex, and having the confidence to say no.

If you are not sure how to use condoms correctly, read the Family Planning Association’s booklet on condoms.   You can also ask your GP, nurse or health professional for advice as well as specialist sexual health services.

Local contraception and sexual health advice services

To find local contraception and sexual health advice services, visit the Sexual Health Hounslow website where you can find information and contact details.

Emergency hormonal contraception (young women under 21) – participating Hounslow pharmacists young women under 21 who think they might be at risk of unintended pregnancy can also access emergency hormonal contraception (morning after pill) in community pharmacies.

Checkurself is the London website for free home chlamydia testing and chlamydia treatment. If you live in London and are between 16 and 24 years old you can order a free home chlamydia test and advice on free treatment and support.
