Free training offered by Women and Girls Network on Understanding and Responding to Sexual Violence: Improving Professional Responses to Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls. The training is three hours long and will be delivered via Zoom. This course will use theoretical constructs from gender analysis perspectives to explore the definitions and impact on women and girls of different forms of sexual violence, from a trauma focused approach. This will involve challenging popularist attitudes towards sexual violence; the importance of an intersectional, culturally relevant response; and good practice in supporting survivors.

● Understand different forms of sexual violence
● Understand the impact of sexual violence on women and girls
● Discuss own and society’s attitudes
● Understand how to encourage and respond to disclosures of sexual violence
Who is this training for?
These courses have been developed for front-line staff (both female and male), working directly with Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) within London organisations. Organisations include both statutory and voluntary and as wide as health, education, criminal justice and alcohol and drug recovery. Please note due to funding requirements, this half day free course is only available to practitioners who are working directly with women and girls who experience(d) or are at risk of experiencing sexual violence in the following boroughs: Hounslow, Hillingdon, Harrow, Brent, Ealing, and Hammersmith and Fulham.
