Free Childcare for Two Year Olds
Published on: 1 August 2016
Do you know a family that earns less than £16,190 or are on benefits? If so their 2 year old may be able to attend free early education and childcare giving them the chance to do some training, study or take a part-time-job. Or, they may just need a few hours to themselves or to spend some time with their younger children.
Their 2 year old will receive quality early education and childcare helping them with their early learning and giving them new experiences with other children. Research shows that children who go to a high quality childcare provider make good progress with their language, physical and social development.  When they come to school age they are better prepared and this advantage stays with them right through into adulthood.
They/you can check their childÂ’s eligibility by either:Â Â
•            visiting www.hounslow.gov.uk/free2 and clicking on the “check to see if I qualify” box
•            telephoning the Early Years team on 020 8583 6421
•            emailing 2y@hounslow.gov.ukÂ
Their child will remain eligible for free childcare, even if their circumstances change i.e. new employment, raised income etc. Then, when their child turns 3 they will continue to access their free childcare place until they start school.Â
