About this event
The Healthier Home Project is an NHS-funded pilot tackling the health inequalities caused by damp and mould in the Private Rented Sector. Across London, these issues are linked to poor respiratory health, reduced child wellbeing, disrupted school attendance and wider family instability. Our discovery work shows that many residents simply don’t know where to turn for clear, trusted advice or support.
We’re inviting VCSE and community-facing organisations—including schools, children’s services, youth groups and family support teams—to join a free, practical training session designed for non-housing professionals. The session will build confidence in spotting issues, having informed conversations with residents, and signposting them to reliable help.
The training will cover:
- Understanding damp and mould and their health impacts
- Practical prevention advice and carbon monoxide safety
- Tenant rights and how to escalate housing concerns
- Using our Healthier Homes website, including letter templates and a growing directory of local VCSE support
- Clear referral and signposting routes for residents
The session will equip frontline staff with simple, effective tools so residents get the right support sooner.
