EHCVS (Ealing and Hounslow Community Volunteer Centre) is working with Macmillan Cancer Support to improve support and care for people affected by cancer, we need to enhance and develop a better understanding of services, ensuring they are appropriate and relevant to the communities they serve. Early, appropriate health services that engage with people living with cancer are vital to build trust, improve treatments and ultimately improve life chances. The Cancer Awareness Project started in May 2023 in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and will run for two years. We are aiming to give better support to patients diagnosed with cancer, raise cancer awareness, and improve understanding on how to access services for minoritised communities and marginalised groups in Ealing.
A key part of the project is the recruitment of a network of volunteer Cancer Champions. Cancer Champions will support individuals, groups, and communities through their cancer diagnosis. Cancer Champions will have the opportunity to learn, upskill, help your community, and make a difference while meeting many new friends along the way.
Join us on Thursday 6 July to learn more about the project, meet the team as well as potential volunteers like yourself.
