Become a trustee – the what, why and how
Date: Wed, 14 October 2020, 13:00 15:00
Does your charity struggle to recruit the trustees you need? Could a broader range of trustees give your charity the impetus to reach the next level?
Delivered by experts in trustee recruitment, Getting on Board, will help you to identify what skills and life experience are missing from your Board and how to address these gaps with strategic recruitment. You will leave with a clear idea of the type of trustees you need, a draft advert, a list of free places to advertise, and a plan to ensure that new trustees hit the ground running.
The workshop is open to both current trustees and senior staff. It would be helpful if you have Board approval to recruit new trustee(s) before you attend the workshop and be prepared to start recruitment shortly after the session.

Free Community Builder Training
What is it?
A free online training course facilitated by leading experts in building kinder, safer more inclusive communities. During interactive sessions taking place over either two days or four evenings, you will discuss and learn about:
- the processes that create divides, prejudice, and identity-based violence
- what really works in building kinder, safer, more inclusive communities
- how to design impactful projects for positive change
- principles to guide how to work in and with communities in meaningful, participatory ways
Following the training, every participant will be encouraged and supported to apply what they have learnt in the training to work they are already doing, or even through a new initiative, whether it is in their workplace, community, group, or club.
Who is it for?
Are you:
involved in some sort of community perhaps through a club, your workplace, a faith group, a voluntary group, a forum, or an association?
passionate about making our communities kinder, safer more inclusive places for all but not sure where to start or want to gain new skills?
If you answered yes this training has been designed for you. We particularly want to encourage people who might think twice before joining a training like this such as those with special educational needs or who dont always feel confident speaking up in group activities.
Our team will be happy to speak to you ahead of the training to understand how we can make sure it is as accessible and comfortable for you as possible.

Calling artists, makers and creatives! Help shape plans for Boston Manor Parks new Arts and Crafts Market.
Hounslow Council has launched a short survey to help shape plans for a new outdoor Arts and Crafts Market in Boston Manor Park. Opening in 2021, the market will celebrate people’s creative talent and support local artists, makers and creative businesses by creating opportunities for them to sell their work.
They are asking for creative people and creative business of any kind to share their thoughts on what makes a great market experience so that when it opens, it creates commercial and development opportunities for as many people as possible. Whether you have traded at markets before or you are only just beginning to think about selling your work, Hounslow Council want to hear from you.

Chair of Trustees Recruitment
The Mulberry Centre (TMC) is an award winning cancer information and support centre based on the grounds of the West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, Middlesex. It has been open for over 19 years and provided services to more than 15,000 people. They currently have over 3,300 registered users. They offer information, complementary therapies and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer. They are a registered charity and are funded entirely by charitable donations.
TMC are seeking a Chair of Trustees to replace the present Chair who is stepping down after 4 years. With Covid 19 all charities are facing challenges at the moment, but the Centre has risen to the challenges and has a great deal to offer for the future. The Trustees are keen to find the right person for the next phase of the Charitys development and someone who will share our vision and values. The Chair will normally serve an initial term of three years and may at the discretion of the Trustees be appointed for a second term not exceeding three years.
