Launch of the 2022-23 Resilience Fund
The Berkeley Foundation are looking for applications from small-to-medium sized charities and CICs who are working to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people from Black and Minoritised communities. They are open for applications from now until the end of October 2022.
The Resilience Fund forms part of the Foundations new 2030 Strategy and represents a £900,000 investment in strengthening the voluntary sector over four years. It aims to support small to medium sized organisations to invest in organisational development and build resilience for the future. We will distribute grants of up to £30,000, with 10 grants to be awarded each year.
We know that the voluntary sector is under more pressure than ever following the pandemic, and organisations are facing more uncertainty as the cost of living increases. Through this fund, we want to help organisations set aside time to focus on building their organisational resilience whether through improved governance, strengthened people power, better financial planning or stronger systems and strategies.

Red Alert (Level 4) Weather Warning for Extreme Heat – National Emergency Declared – update
The information below provides the latest update from the GLA for London (as of yesterday afternoon, shared VCSEPs current heatwave Slack channel).
Cool spaces
Cool Spaces are indoor spaces and outdoor areas where Londoners can take respite on hot days. These are for all Londoners and the map of where they are can be found here: Cool Spaces
Day centres (new update)
Day centres for people experiencing homelessness are set up to provide daytime shelter, basic facilities and advice and support with housing and related issues. Facilities have traditionally included hot drinks (focus now presumably being cool drinks), food, showers, laundry and internet and are available to people who are rough sleeping or homeless. Day centres often offer various types of support under one roof, including casework and advice, education, training and employment services, and referral and access to health services such as a nurse. Day centres have also been advised to hand out sun cream, and the majority of day centres have extended their opening hours and are open to all homeless. The map of Day Centres can be found here: London Map | Atlas

Launching Ealing Together Matrix
At Ealing Council, we know the value and importance of the Faith, Voluntary & Community Sector and know how well-connected you are with your communities, their needs and what it takes to support them. The pandemic has taught us that close collaborations between the VCS and the Council was key to supporting people through the crisis, that if we continue to build stronger ties with you, we can all work better together.
The Ealing Together Matrix has been designed to create new opportunities for more collaborative working, to maximise the use of shared resources and to build accessible links to the people who can benefit from your service. It would take information about what you do and how you do it and share it internally with council services, specialists like social workers, regeneration officers, social prescribers, and park rangers to foster a working relationship where we can support you and you can support us. It will drive information to you, by providing better links with the council and creating opportunities for stronger collaborations.
To help local people learn about who you are and what you do, there will also be a compact version of Ealing Together Matrix available to the public that will provide information about what services you offer, how to access them.
Whats in it for you?
Builds visibility of your Organisation/Services available in your area.
Provides more opportunities for collaborations between you and Ealing Council Services.
