ActForEaling In-Person Photography Competition and Launch Event!

Jan 17, 2022 | Uncategorized

All Ealing residents are invited to #ActForEaling’s first in-person event, an opportunity to meet the #ActForEaling members, celebrate the winners of our inaugural photography competition, and meet other climate conscious residents. The event is being held between 3pm-6pm on Saturday 22nd January at Open Ealing, Unit 14, School Lane, Dickens Yard, W5 2TD.

*Please be advised that masks will be required within the venue. We ask that attendees take a lateral flow test before attending and do not attend if they have any COVID19 symptoms.*

If acting on climate change is one of your 2022 new year’s resolutions then the #ActForEaling Partners’ Mixer is here to help you take the first step.

Following a successful launch in September 2021, #ActForEaling, Ealing’s hub for climate and environmental action, are inviting all Ealing residents to join us at Open Ealing between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday 22nd January to celebrate the climate action which took place in the borough in 2021, congratulate the winners of our inaugural climate-positive photography competition and to find out how you can #ActForEaling.

The photography competitions winners were:

Youth Class

Winner: Zachary Avedian

With a special mention going to  Leo Ghislanzoni

Adult Class

Winner: Maya Jagger

First runner up: Roly West

Second runner up: Gayle Labib

Our winner’s prize is a private guided tour of Perivale Wood with rangers from the Selborne Society with the opportunity to find out more about the climate action taking place in one of Britain’s oldest private nature reserves.

#ActForEaling is the London Borough of Ealing’s community-led climate action hub. Through our online platforms we celebrate all the fantastic climate action that is taking place in Ealing so that residents know what they can do to #ActForEaling. We have built a network of local partners who are organisations and community groups carrying out positive climate action throughout the London Borough of Ealing. We want to mobilise the community as part of Ealing’s journey to reach net zero, restore nature and strengthen biodiversity through connecting people with organisations, volunteering opportunities, events and sharing climate knowledge.

As well as this digital network, in 2021 we made a physical impact in the community and nationally. During our launch in September we held a climate-positive photography competition and over the next 6 months an exhibition of the winning photographs will be touring the libraries of Ealing. To mark COP26, we worked with local partners to create a permanent climate action mural in Ealing Broadway. Based on our 10 practical steps to lead a more sustainable life, we engaged the community in painting a creative, and educational climate action resource in the centre of the borough. We also had members attend COP26, showing how national policy aims can be actioned at a community/local level.

Please come along to our partners mixer on Saturday 22nd January to meet the #ActForEaling members and some of our partners, show your support for the creative displays of community climate action created by the competition winners and make 2022 the year you #ActForEaling.
