Key Purpose:
To ensure the effective running of the ESOL integration project in the Borough of Hounslow, Croydon and Lewisham. ESOL for Integration is a Big Lottery Funded project which will address the social issue of lack of integration, which leads to limited access to services, education, employment, leisure and social networks through the provision of English Language classes.
Hours per week:
35hpw including Saturdays
Summary:Â The post holder will have responsibility for the ESOL for Integration Project, coordinating and managing the Hounslow ESOL Integration Project as well as co-managing the Croydon and Lewisham Integration Projects and their staff alongside the Director. This includes ensuring best practice and, essentially, excellent project delivery in all areas. Experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers is desirable.

- Ensure target number of students are engaged in Hounslow, with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Ensure students and potential students associated with the project are provided with an excellent learner experience and high quality teaching and learning. Focus on Hounslow with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Offer clear managerial leadership to all staff and teachers involved and deploy and organise the team in a way that makes the most effective and efficient use of all team members.
- Contribute to the effective monitoring and evaluation of the Hounslow Project, with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Work towards the ESOL Accreditation to formalize ACAAÂ’s language provision and enable financial sustainability of the project beyond the lifetime of the grant.
Working with:Â The post holder will co-manage Croydon and Lewisham Integration Workers alongside the directors. They will also develop productive working relationships and ESOL Teachers and other staff within the organisation. In addition, he/she will also work productively with other stakeholders (i.e local community groups).
Main Activities:
- Ensure target number of students are engaged in Hounslow, with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Conducting and overseeing the projectÂ’s outreach facilities (telephone, email, social media) is a central part of the role, ensuring that target numbers of beneficiaries, as set out in the funding criteria, are met.
- Setting up a referral mechanism for the project, and liaising with external agencies for referrals (i.e. Social Services, Violence against Women and Girls, Refuge Centres, Job Centre).
- Ensure students and potential students associated with the project are provided with an excellent learner experience and high quality teaching and learning. Focus on Hounslow with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Be responsible for the recruitment and supervision of ESOL Teachers for Hounslow, whilst overseeing recruitment of ESOL Teachers for Croydon and Lewisham.
- Be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of a programme of high quality teaching.
- Conducting baseline assessments, then further assessments to track the progress of the beneficiaries. These assessments will need to be devised and conducted by the Integration Manager for Hounslow, and shared with Integration Workers to be conducted in Croydon and Lewisham.
- Maximizing further learning opportunities for our students and facilitating the beneficiaryÂ’s progression to employment and/or further education.
- Offer clear managerial leadership to all staff and teachers involved and deploy and organise the team in a way that makes the most effective and efficient use of all team members.
- Lead on the recruitment, selection and induction of teachers and other relevant volunteers in the Hounslow project, whilst supporting Croydon and Lewisham.
- Contribute to maintaining clear communication with staff by establishing systems for two-way communication.
- Organise team meetings, set the agenda and ensure notes are taken. Undertake one-to-one meetings with tutors where appropriate.
- Arrange cover for absent tutors.
- Contribute to the effective monitoring and evaluation of the Hounslow Project, with oversight of Croydon and Lewisham.
- Respond to feedback from the other Integration Workers, overseeing the progress data, and reporting back to the Director and the trustees with progress reports.
- Ensure that the feedback loops are operational and the feedback is acted upon. The Integration Manager will co-approve the work of the Integration Workers in this matter, alongside the Director.
- Produce Quarterly Newsletters on the Project, including information from Hounslow, Croydon and Lewisham.
- Undertake weekly meetings with the Director to update on your work and evaluate progress.
- Work towards the ESOL Accreditation to formalize ACAAÂ’s language provision and enable financial sustainability of the project beyond the lifetime of the grant.
- Research potential ESOL Accreditation Providers and their criterion, organize meetings and determine the best provider for the ACAA at the beginning of employment.
- Ensure that the ESOL Project in Hounslow, Lewisham and Croydon follow the accreditation criteria.
- Apply for Accreditation for outcome before project end.
- General
- Contribute to the effective management and promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and the ACAAÂ’s Safeguarding procedure. To lead on Health and Safety and safeguarding matters for the programme.
- Work at all times in accordance with ACAA’s policies and procedures, using them consistently and appropriately in the management of the programme.
