Violence Reduction Unit Capacity Building to Support Incident Response in the Community
Published on: 15 April 2026
From 2022 to 2023, this project focused on building local capacity in parts of Hounslow affected by high levels of violence and safeguarding concern. Using a community-centred and public health approach, EHCVS worked with residents and organisations to strengthen local leadership, support volunteering and help communities play a more active role in shaping safer neighbourhood responses.
Rather than focusing only on incident response, the project invested in local networks, community resilience and organisational development. That gave it a longer-term value, helping build the local conditions for stronger relationships, greater participation and more community-led approaches to safety.
Impact:
- 25 residents engaged in setting up a new group or network in 2022/23.
- 35-member group recruited and 58 residents engaged in safer communities volunteering.
- 12 VCS organisations supported.
