Community Cookout – Hounslow Youth Council

We are Hounslow Youth Council (HYC). We are a group of 11 to 18-year-olds from Hounslow. Currently, our goal is to tackle poverty and hunger felt by young people in Hounslow and improve the community through various means. 

We are reaching out to you to let you know that we are planning to host a ‘Community Cookout’ event for those who feel as though they may need it. It is to raise awareness about child poverty and help remove the stigma around young people accessing support and services such as free school meals. The event will take place at Feltham Assembly Hall on the 12th of July between 4 – 7:30 pm. 

For this event, we think it is important for local organisations, charities and communities to collaborate and get on board. It would be greatly appreciated if you could spread the message across your available networks who may be able to assist us with the following;

We would appreciate any donations such as

• Packaged pantry/ fresh food donations
• Basic necessities including sanitary products and clothing.
• Prepared, cooked and packaged hot meals from organisations (with food and hygiene level 2 and above certification)

It would also be helpful to spread the message and advertise the event through 

• Noticeboards
• Social Media 
• Newsletters
• Announcements 
• Links

We have also attached the poster for the event, which can be digitally distributed or printed for notice boards.
