Published on: 8 February 2023
is company is run by Ellie Chester, an ex-British army officer with extensive experience of dealing with traumatic injuries in conflict zones. She lives in Brentford and would like to offer her wealth of experience to the community. This practical, hands on, skill based, 90 min workshop is going to cover how to help someone who has been stabbed, while you wait for an ambulance or evacuate to professional medical assistance. A suitable room would need to be provided to accommodate a group of 12 people being trained.
No prior education or qualifications are necessary, anyone who is willing to learn and is over 14 years can receive this training.
What will be covered: 1.How to work out how serious the stab wound is – identify the difference between serious and catastrophic bleeds 2. Learn and practice basic, hands on, first aid skills for stab wounds using improvised items that you would have with you. Simple, basic, practical skills to apply to serious and catastrophic bleeds to increase people’s chances of survival until professional medical assistance is available. 3.What to do if the knife is still in and what to do if the knife has been pulled out (knife, glass bottle, bladed implement, sharpened screwdriver…..) 4.Your safety – how to assess and manage dangers at the scene of the incident. -Protecting ourselves from the risk of other people’s blood. -Identifying when it’s safe to help – spotting dangerous and aggressive behaviour.Kind regards Rev Barbara McIntivey -HFOF communications
