The Localism Act 2011 was instrumental in empowering Councils to influence how social housing is offered and managed in their local area. The Act placed a duty on local housing authorities to produce a tenancy strategy. The purpose of the strategy is to communicate local housing need and, how the offer of social housing should support the CouncilÂ’s overall vision to meet housing need.
